Extending Our Target Audience Through Social Media

Twitter

Twitter is now one of the biggest social networks around now being used more than the legendary Facebook.
 In order to keep up with modern times and to extend our audience that much further, we have made a twitter page in order for people to check out images, our music video and it gives people the opportunity to leave feedback which is important for us to target the right audience. Twitter is used by many music artists and celebrities so we felt it was necessary to include ourselves with this trend. Social networking is very important and a key advertising/marketing tool that is easy, free and very effective. 






Here is our facebook which we made which allows people to follow us and get all of our updates/photos/news ect from us and the artist.  It allows people to tweet us and tell us if they like our music video and if they think it is better than the original video. 

Instagram




Instagram is also new on the social networking soon and is on the Top 10 most downloaded app on the Apple app store.
Its a fast way of sharing and editing photos which can be seen by all instagram users as well as the rest of the world. You can post your instagram photos straight to twitter, your blog or Facebook. This fast way of sharing photos allows your photos to be seen quickly by friends or a wider audience.
We used instagram to edit our photos and also get feedback from other users.


These two forms of social media are very popular at the moment therefore felt that these two would attract the correct audience for our genre perfectly.

Ancillary Task- Our Digipak- Analysis

Here is our Digi-pack, it displays images of Ellie Goulding (far right) in three different colour schemes including black, white and sepia. We have used images from our music video except the one with the camera this is because this will make the digi-pack more personal to the buyer by having images of Ellie which they have never seen before. These photos also stick to the genre of the music video.

There are some pages on our Digi-Pack which are just purely music lyrics from the single. These allow the buyer to be able to read these which many female artists have inside there own Digi-Packs to give the fan again a personal feel and also so they can sing the lyrics at home. I have added the magazine advert in small because it gives a very clear representation of the song as the images included have a good  link to the storyline.

Ancillary Task: Magazine Advert & Analysis

Whilst filming we ensured we took plenty of photos as we went along. Using my figifilm camera we could take quality photos for the magazine advert and digi-pack.

I choose a array of images for our magazine advert as I felt this would look very effective in promotion to our song. I chose various images of Myself and other photos which linked to our song choice. This differs from the codes and conventions of female artists who usually just use a close up of themselves but instead this is a better way of portraying our song as a whole instead of just focusing on the main artist herself. However, we also made sure there were still a focus towards the main artist herself by including images of her.

The final Product:

By finding a image of a photo frame we then began to find images relating to our chosen song choice. After finding these we then choose the best photos to use for the inside of the frame which would make up the advert. After this we began to crop, shape, and design to fit into place within the picture frame. 

Following this we then decided on how to portray our advert to our audience effectively by choosing a appropriate font which would reflect our female artist. After doing so we entitled our magazine advert with our artists name and song title. We also added the album name as this could attract the audience to buy the whole album as well as the single, creating a bigger name for the artist. By adding the available now on itunes caption this makes our magazine advert look more professional to the audience.
